Ms. Andersen is the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

She lends her voice to influence and shape action on the triple planetary crisis of climate change, of nature and biodiversity loss, and of pollution and waste.

As the head of UNEP, she seeks to act as a voice for the environment. As head of the agency that scans the horizon of environmental change, Ms. Andersen knows that we need solid science to inform our policies so that we can live in a just, a peaceful, sustainable and equitable world. As UNEP head, she also oversees a number of multilateral environmental agreements and conventions which prevent pollution and protect everything from the ozone layer to nature, wildlife and oceans.

Ms. Andersen has 30+ years experience in international development economics, environmental sustainability, strategy and operations including at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); World Bank and the United Nations.
