Nokia
Espoo, Catalunya, Finland
Senior Vice President Space & Defense. Microwave Radio and All in One Small Cell Unit
Munich, Germany
I head one of the two Nokia Mobile Networks Business Units, with full Profit & Loss responsibility, focusing on topics like advancing strategic areas such as Defense and Non-Terrestrial Networks. As a member of the Nokia Mobile Networks Leadership Team, I bring a blend of strategic vision and operational focus to help drive Nokia’s mission forward.
With over twenty-five years in telecommunications, I’m both a technologist and a business leader with deep expertise in Cybersecurity, IP routing, Wireline/Wireless Backhaul, and Microwave/mmWave transport technology.
My career has allowed me to lead transformative business initiatives, including mergers & acquisitions, and significant turnaround projects, which I approach with a mindset of both innovation and results.
In my leadership, I’m committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment and encouraging my teams to think creatively in delivering impactful business outcomes. I believe that diverse perspectives lead to the most meaningful insights and drive innovation that truly serves our customers’ needs.
I am deeply involved in key business processes, including leading customer meetings, negotiating with partners and vendors or addressing operational issues like TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). I closely monitor sales and revenue performance, ensuring we meet and exceed our targets.
My journey began at Telecom Italia in 1995, followed by roles at Marconi (now Ericsson) and Siemens. In 2013, I launched the “End to End Security” program at Nokia, establishing a new cybersecurity business line, which I led until 2017. Since 2018, I have been leading the Nokia Mobile Networks Transport Unit, overseeing all transport products and solutions within the Nokia Mobile Network Business Group, across technologies from 2G through 5G. In 2021, my role expanded to include full P&L responsibility for the All-in-One Small Cell Unit and the Space & Defense Unit, where I lead the development of “Non-Terrestrial Networks” and 3GPP systems for Defense. I hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a PhD in Engineering, and a Master’s in Telecommunications.
Originally from Italy (Sicily) and currently based in Germany, I’m driven by a passion for connecting people and technology across the globe, and I’m always eager to engage in new challenges that push the boundaries of innovation.
You can always approach me in industry conferences, including major events like the Mobile World Congress (MWC). I’m the host and sponsor for dedicated events such as WAVE Expert.
